Even while on vacation, some kids can’t resist the urge to cry out, “I’m boooooored.” Fortunately, in Corpus Christi, there are plenty of remedies for even the most discerning children. However, there will be no loafing around and playing on their phone on this trip! Check out some of our favorite, kid-approved spots in and around Corpus Christi.
1. Get Air Trampoline Park
If you’ve never visited a trampoline park before, Get Air is a great place to start. This is a far cry from the trampoline you’d find in your neighbor’s backyard. Get Air offers some of the most expansive areas to bounce around in the entire world, but the fun doesn’t stop there! There are traditional trampolines as well as foam pits for all of your aerial feats, extreme dodgeball, and basketball hoops to practice dunking.
While this is a great way for you and your kids to have fun, you’ll be surprised by the workout you’ll get. Believe us, you’ll feel the burn. All that bouncing around is sure to tire your kids out, too. This makes Get Air the perfect activity leading up to a quiet evening or maybe even date night!
2. Cole Park
You might be wondering why we’ve included a city park on this list. Besides the open spaces, playgrounds, and even a skate park, city parks are a great way to take in local culture. Cole Park’s adjacency to the bay also offers some pretty amazing views of the water throughout the day.
Whether you’re up for a family game of basketball or just a romp on the jungle gym, there’s one overarching benefit Cole Park offers that some other locations on this list don’t—it’s free! Furthermore, its downtown location means you’ll be right in the heart of Corpus Christi when you’re ready to eat or do some shopping.
3. Waves Resort featuring Schlitterbahn Waterpark
Nothing says fun in the sun like Schlitterbahn Waterpark! If you’re visiting from outside of Texas, you may not be familiar with the Schlitterbahn chain of family-owned water parks. To put it simply, all Schlitterbahn parks, including the Corpus Christi location, mean a day of water-soaked fun.
Waves Resort featuring Schlitterbahn Waterpark offers plenty of great water rides from slides to wave pools to more. Your kids are sure to enjoy splashing around, and you’ll love all the exercise disguised as fun! Looking for more than just a day of fun? Waves Resort also offers a full resort within close proximity to a number of beaches.
4. Oso Bay Wetlands and Learning Center
Located in Southside, the Oso Bay Wetlands offers your family 162 acres of picturesque Gulf Bend landscape. There are two miles of hiking trails that aim to show off the natural beauty as well as the local flora and fauna. Or, maybe you just want to hang out at the playground. Either way, your kids are sure to tire themselves out from walking around all day.
While your family gets in a full day of exercise, you can also flex those brain muscles at the learning center. Here you’ll find educators waiting to share their knowledge and love of the wetlands with visitors of all ages. Take part in some hands-on learning experiences unique to this region of Texas.
5. The Water’s Edge
This is another great park located in the Bayfront area. Like Cole Park, The Water’s Edge is totally free, making it fun for the kids and agreeable for your wallet. As its name implies, this park is located right next to McGee Beach. That means you can go right from surf and sand to a brand new playground in mere seconds. Visiting Corpus Christi with a four-legged friend? The brand-new, totally enclosed dog park has you and your fur babies covered.
Work up an appetite from all of your running around? You can find something tasty to snack on without even leaving the park thanks to a number of food trucks that make regular visits to the park. However you spend your time at The Water’s Edge, you and your kids are sure to have a fun, active day.
While the beach is always the main attraction for kids, there are plenty of other ways to keep them occupied and active throughout your entire vacation. Looking for even more kid-friendly activities? Check out some of our other favorite ways to spend time as a family when you visit Corpus Christi.
