Hollywood legend Pepe Serna is indeed a Corpus Christi homeboy. While the respected Latino character actor is best known as the king of supporting roles in films like 70s urban comedy, Car Wash and one of the most iconic death scenes in 80s cinema, playing Miami drug mule, Angel, who meets a grim fate at the edge of a chainsaw in Brian DePalma’s Scarface, his TV work is a who’s who of 70s and 80s hits, including: MannixKung FuThe Rockford FilesKojakCHiPsBarney MillerKnight RiderThe A-Team, and of course, Miami Vice.

And if the last name sounds familiar, you might recognize his niece, Clarissa Serna, whose debut TV version of The Cranberries’ hit, “Zombie” on Season Six of NBC’s The Voice earned four chair turnarounds from the celebrity judges and is still one of the most memorable performances in the popular television show’s run. Serna is still very active as a singer and songwriter in the Texas music scene.
