About The Council
The Corpus Christi Film Commission Council is a group of dedicated industry professionals committed to showcasing Corpus Christi as a premier, film-friendly destination. Comprised of passionate experts with diverse experience, the council provides invaluable support and guidance to productions of all sizes, ensuring a seamless and successful experience. Serving two-year terms, council members play a vital role in shaping the future of film in Corpus Christi. Nestled along the Texas Gulf Coast, Corpus Christi offers unmatched coastal landscapes, diverse locations, and a vibrant community ready to welcome filmmakers. The Corpus Christi Film Commission is proud to assist with location scouting, city department coordination, and permitting to make your production process as smooth as possible.
Makeup and Structure of the Film Commission Council
The Corpus Christi Film Commission Council is composed of representatives from local government, corporate partners, venues, media, event rights holders, and the regional film industry. Members serve one-year terms with no limit on reappointments and must sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement and Commitment Letter. Seats are acquired by invitation and approved by the Visit Corpus Christi CEO at no cost to the representatives. The council’s purpose is to engage community stakeholders with significant resources to support the Film Commission’s goals, with members receiving recognition on the Corpus Christi Film Commission website. Meetings are held quarterly, and the council is led by a Chair selected by staff for a two-year term, with no limit on the number of terms served.
Roles and Responsibilities
Administration
- Attend quarterly meetings
- Participate in discussions and advise on strategic planning
Public Relations & Content Generation
- Support public relations and community awareness in cooperation with Visit Corpus Christi and the Music Commission
Community Development
- Address film industry talent, education, and venue needs
- Advise on corporate social responsibility opportunities and charity support
- Discuss local film industry recipients for Visit Corpus Christi Foundation funding
Events
- Assist with production/talent site visits, including lodging, meals, and locations
- Provide financial resources, sponsorships, and in-kind donations for events
- Serve on Local Organizing Committees for Film Commission and city-wide events

About Visit Corpus Christi
Visit Corpus Christi is a 501c6 Destination Management Organization contracted by the city of Corpus Christi with a mission to strengthen our community by sharing Corpus Christi with the world. The organization is primarily funded through Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) paid by visitors while staying overnight in hotels and short-term rentals.
