Brooks Kieschnick

Brooks Kieschnick, a native of Robstown, Texas, and a standout athlete at Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, is a Coastal Bend Sports Legend. Known for his exceptional dual-threat abilities as both a pitcher and hitter, Kieschnick's baseball journey is a testament to his versatility and dedication.
High School Excellence
At Mary Carroll High School, Kieschnick was a three-sport athlete, excelling in baseball, football, and basketball. In baseball, he achieved a perfect 12-0 pitching record with a remarkable 0.62 ERA, while also batting .466 and hitting nine home runs. His outstanding performance earned him the All-South Texas Player of the Year award.
Collegiate Achievements
Continuing his baseball career at the University of Texas at Austin, Kieschnick became the only player to win the prestigious Dick Howser Trophy twice, in 1992 and 1993. Over three seasons, he compiled a 34–8 pitching record with a 3.05 ERA and batted .360 with 43 home runs and 215 RBIs. His exceptional performance made him a three-time All-American and a three-time unanimous Southwest Conference Player of the Year.
Professional Career
Drafted 10th overall by the Chicago Cubs in 1993, Kieschnick played in Major League Baseball from 1996 to 2004, including stints with the Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Colorado Rockies, and Milwaukee Brewers. Notably, in 2003, he became the first player in MLB history to hit home runs as a pitcher, designated hitter, and pinch hitter in the same season.
