CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – March 7, 2024 – During a presentation titled "Corpus Christi Speaks: Insights from the Annual Resident Sentiment Survey," Visit Corpus Christi released the results of their 2023 Corpus Christi resident sentiment survey showcasing that locals have strong support for tourism and community pride. The study, conducted by MMGY Global, the world's leading integrated marketing agency specializing in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry, was completed by more than 2,000 residents. Key findings show that 81% of community members feel that tourism is crucial to the local economy and 85% believe that tourism provides additional investments into the local economy.
Data presented by Visit Corpus Christi President and CEO, Brett Oetting and Managing Director of Data Science, Michael Imburgio, PhD confirmed an increase in community pride, with 59% of those who responded indicating that they are proud to be from Corpus Christi. These results demonstrate an 8% increase when compared to the 2021 survey results.
“The survey results presented are a testament to our city’s vibrancy and continued commitment to growth,” proclaimed Corpus Christi Mayor, Paulette Guajardo, “the indicated uptick in community pride among our residents is no coincidence, as we continue to showcase a positive trend for the city’s future development.”
Results from the 2023 Resident Sentiment Survey were gathered from October 5 through October 23, 2023, via an online survey. Over 65% of respondents showed support for marketing Corpus Christi to tourists and 75% of respondents agreed that funding for attractions, concerts, festivals, and shows is important.
