  • The Texas State Aquarium is dedicated to providing an inclusive, sensory-friendly experience for all visitors. From accessible pathways to sensory guides, this Kullture City Certified attraction ensures that everyone can enjoy up-close encounters with sea turtles, sharks, stingrays, and more. Beaches

  • Beach Wheelchair Rentals

    Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department offers free use of Beach Wheelchairs for persons with disabilities. These chairs allow you to move about on the sand and into the surf. Come bask in the sun's warmth and enjoy the feel of the waves! Wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis while lifeguards are on duty.

    Beach Wheelchairs must be reserved by phone (361) 826-3469, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (CST). 

  • Home to the longest stretch of undeveloped barrier island in the world, Padre Island National Seashore offers serene coastal landscapes and abundant wildlife. While much of the terrain is natural and rugged, visitors will find accessible features including paved walkways, beach-friendly wheelchairs (available upon request), and ADA-accessible facilities near the visitor center. It's a peaceful place to connect with nature and experience the Gulf’s natural beauty.

  • Mustang Island State Park offers five miles of coastline and a chance to unwind by the water. Accessible parking, restrooms, and beach access routes make this coastal gem easier to enjoy for everyone. While the natural environment varies in terrain, beach wheelchairs are available for visitors with mobility needs, making it possible to get closer to the surf and sand.

  • Located near downtown and steps from major attractions, North Beach is one of the most accessible beach areas in Corpus Christi. Visitors will find paved boardwalks, accessible parking, and beach wheelchairs (available seasonally) to help navigate the sandy shoreline. With restaurants, public art, and the nearby Texas State Aquarium and USS Lexington Museum, North Beach is a great spot to relax or explore, all with accessibility in mind.

Transportation

  • Corpus Christi International Airport (CCIA) is committed to providing a travel experience that is accessible, comfortable, and safe for all passengers. The airport complies with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and offers a range of accessibility features, including automatic doors, crosswalks, curb cuts, ramped access, and elevators. All airline ticket counters, point-of-sale counters, restrooms, drinking fountains, ATMs, and public seating areas are ADA-compliant and wheelchair accessible. For accessibility-related concerns, passengers can report issues through the Safety Reporting page.

    Wheelchair Assistance

    Passengers who require wheelchair assistance are encouraged to request it in advance when booking their flight or by contacting their airline directly. Assistance within the terminal is available through airline personnel.

    Screening Assistance

    The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) offers TSA Cares, a program that provides additional screening assistance to travelers with disabilities, medical conditions, or special needs. Passengers are encouraged to contact TSA Cares at (855) 787-2227 at least 72 hours before departure to arrange for assistance and receive information about security screening procedures.

    Accessible Parking

    CCIA provides designated accessible parking spaces in Long-Term, Short-Term, and Covered parking areas. Curb cuts and ramps are available to facilitate easy access to the terminal. Passengers who require assistance in the parking areas can contact (361) 826-PARK.

    Ground Transportation

    Several accessible transportation options are available for travel to and from the airport. Some local providers require advance notice to arrange for wheelchair-accessible vehicles:

    • RTA B-Line Service – (361) 883-2287 (Requires 24-hour advance notice and eligibility determination)
    Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program

    CCIA participates in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, which helps travelers with non-visible disabilities receive additional support while navigating the airport. Passengers wearing a sunflower symbol can request extra time at security checkpoints, assistance with airport navigation, or priority boarding.     CCIA is making accessible travel easier than ever. As an official Aira Access Partner, CCIA now offers free, on-demand visual interpreting services for blind and low vision travelers through the Aira app. Whether you're finding your gate, navigating TSA, or looking for restrooms, food, or transportation, trained agents provide live, real-time assistance to help you travel independently. The Aira Explorer app is available to all airport guests at no cost, anywhere on airport property, 24/7, year-round. No reservations needed. Just download the app and connect instantly with a visual interpreter who can guide you through your airport journey.

  • The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) is committed to providing safe, efficient, and accessible transportation for all passengers, including individuals with disabilities, older adults, and those with access and functional needs. CCRTA ensures compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, making public transit an inclusive and viable option for everyone. CCRTA is dedicated to reasonable modifications to policies, practices, and services to prevent discrimination based on disability and to ensure equal access to programs and benefits. Requests for modifications should be made in advance when possible to allow sufficient time for review and implementation.

    Paratransit Services (B-Line)

    CCRTA offers B-Line paratransit service for individuals whose disabilities prevent them from using fixed-route bus services. This door-to-door, shared-ride service operates within the same service area and hours as fixed-route services.

    • Fully accessible vehicles equipped for mobility aids

    Reasonable Modifications & Accommodations

    CCRTA considers requests for reasonable modifications to policies and procedures to improve accessibility. Requests should be made as specific as possible and submitted in advance when feasible. CCRTA will provide verbal or written confirmation regarding the requested modifications before service is provided. To request a modification under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or to file a complaint, passengers can contact CCRTA’s ADA Compliance Officer at (361) 883-2287.

    • CCRTA ensures that all buses and transit facilities are ADA-compliant and equipped with:
    • Low-floor buses and wheelchair ramps/lifts
