2-Day Corpus Christi
Outdoor Adventure Itinerary
Corpus Christi gives outdoor adventurers plenty of ways to experience the coast from the water, shoreline, and everything in between. With steady winds, warm temperatures, and adventures for different skill levels, two days can take you from your first wave to a wind-powered ride across the Laguna Madre. Try something new, push your skills, or find a new way to experience the Gulf Coast Capital.
Day One: Hit the Water
Start With a Morning Paddle
Start your first day on the water with a stand-up paddleboarding session along the Corpus Christi Bayfront. Take your practice beyond the board with Water Dog Yoga, SUP & Barre, which offers SUP yoga classes from its Downtown Corpus Christi location, combining balance, movement, and time on the water. Prefer to chart your own course? Rent your gear from Wind &Wave Watersports and head out for a paddle at your own pace.
Fuel Up Before the Waves
Before heading to the surf, stop at Island Joe’s Coffee & Gallery, a laid-back café housed inside a colorful stack of shipping containers. Grab a coffee made with house-made syrups and fuel up with hearty biscuits, energy bars, or the cucumber toast before browsing the local art displayed throughout the space. It’s an easy stop to recharge before the next adventure.
Catch a Wave at North Packery
Head to North Packery Beach (J.P. Luby Surf Park), one of Corpus Christi's go-to spots for catching waves. If it's your first time on a board, Padre Island Surf Camp and Texas Surf Camps offer lessons and courses to help beginners learn the basics before hitting the Gulf. More experienced surfers can grab a board and head straight for the waves.
Grab a Bite on Padre Island
After a day on the water, stick around Padre Island for a well-earned meal. Head to Padre Island Burger Co. for stacked burgers like “The Famous” Dr. Padre or The LuLu, or build your own with your choice of patty, bread, toppings, and sides. Craving pizza instead? Padre Pizzeria serves scratch-made, hand-tossed pies alongside calzones, pepperoni rolls, and more.
Day Two: Chase the Wind
Fuel Up for Day Two
Start the morning at Ridley's on the Island, where a made-from-scratch brunch menu gives you plenty of fuel for another day outside. Go savory with the Lobster Bennie on sourdough or Brisket Hash with Hatch green chile potatoes and smoked gouda, or start sweet with Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes topped with toasted coconut and glazed fruit.
Learn to Ride the Wind
Put Corpus Christi's steady winds to work with a windsurfing or winging lesson at Bird Island Basin. Located within Padre Island National Seashore, its shallow waters and beginner-friendly conditions make it a popular place to learn, while Worldwinds Windsurfing offers lessons and equipment rentals for different skill levels. Instructor Olivier Jallais can help newcomers learn the fundamentals and experienced riders build their skills before heading out across the Laguna Madre.
Ride Along the Shoreline
Trade your board for a saddle with Horses on the Beach, where guided horseback rides take you right along the shoreline. Rides are available for beginners and experienced riders, with daytime and sunset options that give you a completely different way to experience the coast. Advance reservations are recommended, especially on weekends.
Pick Your Next Adventure
Keep the momentum going by choosing another way to experience the water. Get behind the wheel for a beach drive, pick up the speed on a jet ski, or wait until dark for an illuminated kayak adventure.
Cruise the Coast
Explore Padre Island from behind the wheel with a ride built for the beach. Go open-air and electric with a Gulf Coast Moke, or choose a Padre Island Combat Cruiser for something more rugged and built to handle soft sand and longer beach drives. Either way, you're not just getting from one stop to the next. The drive becomes part of the adventure.
Turn Up the Speed
Hop on a jet ski and explore the water from a completely different perspective. Guided tours with Padre Island Jet Ski launch from Marker 37 Marina, while other rental options make it possible to explore Corpus Christi Bay, the Intracoastal Waterway, and the Laguna Madre.
Paddle After Dark
Keep the adventure going after sunset with a nighttime paddle from GlowRow. Clear kayaks illuminated from below cast light into the water as you paddle through the dark, giving you a completely different view of what's happening beneath the surface. It's one last chance to get on the water before wrapping up two days of outdoor adventure in Corpus Christi.
The adventure doesn’t stop when you’re back on dry land. Cast a line along the Gulf, bays, and waterways with a Corpus Christi fishing itinerary, or grab your binoculars and explore one of the country’s top birding destinations with a Corpus Christi birding itinerary. From the water to the trails, there are plenty of ways to build your next outdoor adventure in the Gulf Coast Capital.
