CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – March 27, 2024 – Visit Corpus Christi, the official destination management organization of Corpus Christi held their inaugural meeting for the Corpus Christi Tourism Council on Inclusion and Belonging.

“The benefits of the council as a whole provides multiple perspectives regarding the inclusive needs of people with disabilities, diverse community members, and businesses within the Coastal Bend,” commented Jennifer Scott, EdD, a member of the Corpus Christi Tourism Council on Inclusion and Belonging. 

Key stakeholders from across various industries, including local businesses, hospitality professionals, community leaders, and spokespeople from underserved communities are selected to have a seat at the table, ensuring that a diverse range of voices and perspectives are represented. Through regular meetings and workshops, the council will work to identify barriers to inclusion, develop strategies for promoting the diversity of the community, and implement best practices for creating an inclusive experience in the Gulf Coast Capital.

Visit Corpus Christi is a state and national award-winning 501c6 Destination Management Organization contracted by the city of Corpus Christi with a mission to strengthen the community by sharing Corpus Christi with the world. The organization is primarily funded through Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) paid by visitors while staying overnight in hotels and short-term rentals. Visit Corpus Christi also has a non-profit foundation that supports the hospitality and tourism industry via education programs, raising and providing funding to individuals and businesses during times of need through the Visit CC Cares program.
