Corpus Christi, TX – February 15, 2022 –  Visit Corpus Christi and it's tourism partners will be making 1,000 calls over the next two days at the second annual, Calls for the Coast event, which will take place today, February 15 and tomorrow February 16, at the American Bank Center. Volunteers from within the hospitality industry will be working in shifts to contact verified prospects to help bring more meetings and conventions business to The Gulf Coast Capital.

Calls for the coast originated at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, due to business travel decreasing significantly, causing unfortunate hardships on cities like Corpus Christi that rely on business and leisure travelers. Approximately $1.5 billion a year is generated from Corpus Christi’s tourism industry which includes $22 million in sales tax revenue that make up 26% of citywide tax collections. As Visit Corpus Christi continues to create a better community by sharing Corpus Christi with the world, the communities support of events like Calls for the Coast is crucial to the city's advancement and recognition as The Gulf Coast Capital.

“Calls for the Coast is a one-of-a-kind event in our industry and we are proud of the success from last year and excited for this year"  said Visit Corpus Christi President and CEO Brett Oetting. “Convention business can be huge business to Corpus Christi as we are a destination where attendees will come early, stay late, and bring their family."
