CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – JANUARY 25, 2022 – The Corpus Christi hospitality industry will be getting an upgrade this spring. Visit Corpus Christi has created the Tourism Academy, a multi-level training program for hospitality and tourism industry employees that will guide participants through very specific stages of their careers.
Each level within the Academy will provide the local workforce with the tools needed to cultivate a thriving and prosperous industry. Not only does this program provide participants the opportunity to understand the power of tourism and grow their knowledge of Corpus Christi’s area attractions, restaurants, hotels, but it also supports career advancement and development of industry knowledge for emerging leaders in our local industry, to prepare them for establishing a presence on a state and nationwide level.
Registration is now open for the first-level course, Customer Service for Tourism. Through this training participants will learn promote a better visitor experience and earn their CCME certification. The CCME certification represents those locals who embody Corpus Christi community pride, understand the power of travel to our local economy, and take ownership of making ordinary moments extraordinary. After candidates have completed this introductory course, they will then be eligible for the second and third levels - Ambassador Level for Tourism and Tourism Leadership Program which will be launched in Fall/Winter 2022.
Hospitality and tourism partners can also earn the CCME Partner Certification by committing to training at minimum 1/3 of all employees. Elevated promotion via Visit Corpus Christi’s marketing efforts will also be a benefit to those who receive the certificate.
