Juneteenth is a national holiday commemorating the liberation of enslaved people after the Civil War. Although the Emancipation Proclamation was issued in 1863, freedom did not reach enslaved people in Texas until June 19, 1865, making Juneteenth a deeply significant part of Texas history and culture. Today, Corpus Christi honors that legacy with vibrant celebrations that spotlight Black culture, community, music, and joy. From live performances and gospel celebrations to rooftop gatherings and cultural festivals, here are four Juneteenth events you won’t want to miss this year:

2026 Coastal Bend Juneteenth Festival

June 19-21 | Water’s Edge Park | Various Times

Presented by TABPHE Corpus Christi, the annual Coastal Bend Juneteenth Festival returns to Water’s Edge Park with three full days of live music, culture, and community celebration along the Corpus Christi Bayfront. Admission is free, and all are welcome to experience this powerful celebration of Black heritage and Gulf Coast pride.

Festival Highlights
  • Main Stage Concert Series: Featuring national and regional artists in R&B, gospel, Southern Soul, and hip-hop throughout the weekend, bringing high-energy performances and community celebration to the festival stage.
  • “Freedom by the Sea” Art Showcase: Explore a coastal-inspired gallery experience featuring youth exhibits, creative works from local artists, and visual storytelling that celebrates culture, history, and freedom.
  • Health & Wellness Pavilion: Enjoy onsite health screenings, mental health discussions, wellness resources, and fitness sessions designed to promote community health and empowerment.
  • Youth & Family Zone: Families can enjoy interactive exhibits, storytelling experiences, hands-on activities, and the continued adventures of Rai Rai’s Juneteenth Adventure throughout the weekend.
  • Business & Resource Expo: Discover a vibrant marketplace featuring small businesses, nonprofit organizations, local vendors, and community resources that spotlight entrepreneurship and connection across the Coastal Bend.
