Juneteenth is a national holiday celebrating the liberation of freed slaves after the Civil War. Originating here on the Gulf Coast in 1865, the war officially ended when the message of liberation was finally brought to Texas. Since then, Juneteenth celebrations spread far and wide, but remain a special tradition in Texas and in the Gulf Coast Capital. Here are four Juneteenth celebrations you can't miss this year:

 

Juneteenth Kickoff

Black and White Dance and Comedy Show

Corpus Christi Juneteenth Festival

This highly anticipated event is back for 2023 with a fun-filled day of food trucks, a kid zone area, a 5K Run/Walk, and more.
