Good Mexican food is a given when you visit Corpus Christi. Everyone has their favorite spot for good carne asada or a frozen margarita. Because of that, it’s nearly impossible to adequately list each and every taco stand—let alone the good ones—that make up the area’s food scene. But if you find yourself in Corpus Christi and in dire need of an order of guacamole (and without a local to guide you), keep this list close by.

Here are some of our favorite places to get tacos in Corpus Christi:

Chacho's Tacos

This family-owned, sit-down eatery in central Corpus Christi stands out from the crowd with its handmade tortillas and authentic Mexican cuisine. Newcomers with a big appetite should be sure to order The Almighty Chacho’s Taco—a 14-inch long breakfast taco served with eggs, beans, bacon, and cheese. Check out the video below of the time we attempted the challenge!

Yoli's Tacos & Barbacoa To Go

You know those little hole-in-the-wall places that fly under the radar for everyone except the locals? Yoli’s is one of those delicious secrets. Though you may be tempted, don’t load up on the chips, salsa and guac before you’ve had a chance to try one of their famous tacos. In addition to tacos, Yoli’s serves up other Mexican favorites such as carne guisada, beef enchiladas and chalupas. Eat inside or get it to go, it’s your choice!

Nano's Taco Run

Nano’s Taco Run is a family-owned restaurant best known for its mouthwatering breakfast tacos and zesty homemade sauce. But there’s more on the menu, too, including cheesy enchiladas and sizzling fajitas. Pull up to the counter (or the drive-thru, if you’re in a hurry) and order up a meal you won’t soon forget. Not only will your tummy thank you, but your wallet will as well.

Hi-Ho Restaurant

One of the most cherished and oldest taquerias in town, Hi-Ho is undoubtedly the place to go for breakfast tacos. It's also famously known as the taqueria Selena frequently visited for a carne guisada plate!

This quaint joint serves up major flavor. Head to Sonny’s Barbacoa for the meaty, tangy, brothy, saucy, spicy cures for what ails ya! Their barbacoa is made from prime cuts of meat to assure the freshest and best-tasting tacos in town.

TacoBar Street

TacoBar Street is an infusion of the traditional taco, mixed with a splash of Asian influence. The street nachos, a signature dish and crowd favorite, have all the Mexican flavors we all know and love.

La Playa by the Bay
