Sharkathon 

Held in October and November, Sharkathon stands as one of the largest conservation-based shark fishing tournaments. This event aims to educate fishermen on the importance of catch-and-release when it comes to sharks and the importance of sea life preservation. This tournament has evolved over the years and with its growth comes an increase in cash and prizes, now totaling over $80,000. Proceeds from raffle sales are used to support educational opportunities for underprivileged children. 

 

Babes on the Bay  

During the month of May, the city of Rockport hosts Babes on the Bay, the largest women-only event in the entire country that aims to educate women about saltwater fishing with a strong focus on conservation. This tournament introduces more women to the sport of fishing and serves as a gathering point for women from Texas and across the country, offering a weekend filled with live bands, vendor booths, educational outreach by Texas Parks & Wildlife, and other conservation-oriented organizations. 

 

Rey Del Mar Kayak Fishing Tournament  

This highly anticipated, exclusive inshore/offshore Kayak fishing tournament, the only one of its kind in the nation, is held during the months of August and September. With the prestigious Rey Del Mar Title up for grabs, participants have a chance to compete for a guaranteed $10,000 prize. Held at the picturesque Marker 37, this annual event promises to be the highlight of the year for kayak fishing enthusiasts, welcoming all kayaks and anglers of varying skill levels to join in the excitement.

 

Valero Reel it in for Kids

Hundreds of people gather each June to cast a line for a good cause. The Valero Reel it in for Kids fishing tournament holds fishing events to make a difference in the lives of kids who are less fortunate than others. This tournament raises thousands of dollars each year and proceeds from each event benefit different organizations like the Wesley Community Center, United Way of the Coastal Bend, and more.

Third Coast Fishing Tournament 

Held annually at Bluff’s Landing Marina, anglers gather to fish and compete for their share of $10,000 in the Third Coast Fishing Tournament. Held in May, there are 15 places, and anglers aim to find the biggest Redfish, Flounder, and Trout for prizes. Every entrant gets a free t-shirt, raffle ticket, and lunch. All funds raised go to the ministry of Young Life in Corpus Christi.
