If you can't make it to Germany this year for Oktoberfest, don't fret, Corpus Christi has you covered! Celebrate the 207-year-old German tradition with a coastal twist at Surftoberfest. Here are four radical reasons to hang ten at Surftoberfest this year.
Flex your beer muscles at the Masskrugstemen! That's a stein-holding competition for all you laymen out there. Test your endurance in one of the qualifying rounds throughout Surftoberfest and if you make the cut, compete against the best of the best in the final round on the main stage.
Surtoberfest is more than just a celebration of German heritage, it's also the most magical annual beer festival in Corpus Christi! Sample draught brews from all of Corpus Christi's local breweries or raise your stein in the pop-up tasting room in the new Waterstreet Garden. To get authentic with it, buy a souvenir stein at the start of the festival and refill as you go. Prost!
Surftoberfest brings the German tradition of beer-drinking and polka dancing to sea level with the coolest display of vintage Volkswagens around. Surf culture and German culture collide with these quintessential beach mobiles throughout the festival. Bonus: Stop in and take a selfie in the Volkswagen photo booth.

Polka, polka, polka... and little bit of the chicken-dance! No Surftoberfest née Oktoberfest is complete without live music. Flatbroke, John Cortez, Total Death Mechanics and The Poi Pounders will each give you a reason to step away from the stein and get in the festive vibe. Throw on your best dirndl or lederhosen and get ready to yell oompah a time or two!
October also means costumes! Kick-off costume season early with the Surftoberfest pet costume contest, oh and humans too. Come decked out in your favorite pair of lederhosen or have your pup strut their best outfit.
The kiddos will also have a blast at Surftoberfest with the interactive kids zone. Learn about conservation at the Texas Surf Museum, get your face painted and jump in the inflatables.
From stein-holding to authentic German food, the folks at Surftoberfest keep it authentically German while adding a splash of surfer stoke. Check out the official Surftoberfest page for more information.
